Name That Brew

Is that smoke coming from the old Poekicker's Brewery?

Why yes it is! The smokestacks are pumping and the big brass brew kettles are boiling away again at the storied, but long defunct Poekicker's Brewery.

Slag, former co-brewmaster of the Poekicker's Brewing Company, is concocting a brew just in time for summer barbecue season. And the first new beer in lo these many years will be a delicious, warm, English Ale.

And this where you come in faithful reader. In the tradition of Name The Third Greatest Honorary Poekicker and that contests middling success, I bring you Name That Brew.

The one and only rule is that the name must follow the naming tradition established by previous Poekicker brews such as Hophead Soup and the award winning Sticky Finger Brown Ale.

I think everyone's get's the drift, right?

The winner will be announced July 4th and will receive six bottles of the of the inaugural brewing.

Good luck, now NAME THAT BEER!

How about Poekicker’s Detachable Raven Summer Ale?

And check out this ranking!

The logic behind my “Detachable Raven” name suggestion per my previous comment:
1) This is an English ale.
2) The Tower of London is in England.
3) The Tower of London has lots of ravens on its grounds.
4) Poe has a famous connection with the raven.
5) A Poe doll with detachable raven is made by the Chinese*.
6) An image of this doll (raven detached and not visible) has been used in a previous Hubbub post.

*That this doll is made by the Chinese is not important, but Tsingtao beer goes well with Moo Goo Gai Pan I might add.

Quite a nice first submission. "Detachable Raven" looks to be a strong contender.

In honor of the late, great Billy Preston, I've come up with my own suggestion, "#3 Savile Row" English Ale.

3 Savile Row, London was home to Apple Corps in the 1960's and site of the famous Beatles rooftop concert featuring a 22 year-old Billy Preston.

How about RingoJuice in honor of his 25th anniversity of sobriety, or so I'm told.

McCartney is 64 this weekend. How about "sixy-four" Ale? Or we could just throw a 64 on the back of the bottle like the 33 on a Rolling Rock.

Since no name got more than one vote; the brewmaster casts the deciding vote for.............Exile On Malt Street!

Congratulations Slag, enoy that six pack!

The consolation prize goes to CJM for Detachable Raven, which was the inspiration for our next brew, Nevermore Raven Porter, due sometime in late 2018 (we only get to about one brew every 12 years or so).

Thanks for playing Name That Brew, and rememeber, drink responsibly.
