Oh yeah! The good thing about these Shot Of Love outtakes is that you can hear in his lyrics that he's finishing up with that born-again Christian stuff and back into simple Rock and Roll for its own sake.
He went born again in 1977 after Sara, his wife of 12 years and mother of his four children, divorced him for all the fooling around he did on the Rolling Thunder tour '75-'76. He "found God" and penned one mediocre album (Slow Train Coming) and one truly awful one (Saved) under Jesus' tutelage.
And Yes he does look ridiculous in that hat. But God ain't to blame for that one. He just thinks he's Hank Williams (and drinks like him, too)
