Don't Try

Charles Bukowski, the poet and novelist, and inspiration for the 1987 movie Barfly, died of leukemia on March 9th, 1994, at the age of 73.

His gravestone reads: "Don't Try".

According to Linda Lee Bukowski, her Husband's epitaph means "If you spend all your time trying, then all you're doing is trying. So don't try. Just do."

Don't try, just do.

That was one of the most disturbing movies that I have EVER seen.

Top Rated Flicks To Make You Want To Put Down The Bottle.

1. BARFLY
2. Leaving Las Vegas
3. Tree's Lounge

Thank God that my ADD let's me forget the movies and get right back up on that horse. So much Guinness, so little time.

It is noteable that all three actors did Oscar worthy performances in these flicks playing drunks. Buscemi is a genious!

It did anyone else notice that Mickey Rourke sounded a lot like the cartoon character Snagglepuss in that movie. I kept imagining him saying,"Exit stage left."

And then of course, there is the best (only?) song about Charles Bulowski, Modest Mouse's Bukowski.
