"My Glass is Blue" is about a guy whose girl has dumped him and he's drowning his sorrows in a bar called The Waterloo. The bartender might be a hot chick that sympathizes or just someone who likes to get people drunk. Whatever.
I wanted it to be an "Anti-Bruce" tune because his love songs are so upbeat they're downright corny sometimes. So I gave it a Bruce-like musical feel but covered a subject matter that a Tom Waits or Charles Bukowski would love.

"A Prayer For Us And Jimmy" is about my brother Jim who passed a few years back and who I dedicated the CD to. He really loved music. Lyrically, however, the song is not so much about him as it is about those left behind trying to deal with the pain of his sudden absence and begging God for answers that you know won't come. I figured a true Beer Album has to have some of that melancholy that alcohol induces.

"The Fenian Sway" is my obligatory Irish rouser. Fenians were Irish rebels who wanted a Free Ireland and fuck the Brits and all they stand for. The sway comes from too much drinking and you can no longer dance (let alone stand) so you just sit in your barstool and sway and sing to the music.
Gotta go out singing!
