Dated Movie Reviews: Blue Velvet...

Blue Velvet
A surrealist drama that sardonically counterpoints a complacent world of bourgeois respectability with a criminal underworld of human monsters and crooked cops and kinky sexual practices. Probably too brutal and disturbing for the faint hearted, but the adventurous moviegoer will find it perversely fascinating.

Starring Isabella Rossellini, Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, Dennis Hopper. Written and directed by David Lynch ("Eraserhead", "The Elephant Man", "Dune").

Yeah. MacLachlan peaked with that one. Career really slid after that. Caught a bit of a lift with "Twin Peaks," but that was short-lived. Having to settle for a few "Sex in the City" episodes to pay the rent when he was in his 40s was just sad, real sad. Tough business. Eats you up. What's the story here? Did ya copy that review from The Daily News onto a post-it note and carry it around in your wallet for 20 years? Man, that's sadder than MacLachlan's career. Real sad.
